About CCI
Community Conservation Initiative (CCI) is a nonprofit organization established on December 17th, 2021. We aim to engage immigrants living in the Greater Portland area in environmental conservation through various campaigns with the purpose of educating and increasing awareness of the challenges and opportunities for household recycling, reuse, and rethinking environmentally conscious sustainable living.
Our Mission
Community Conservation Initiative (CCI) provides concrete solutions to the people of Maine to the increased environmental and public health risks associated with climate change, global warming, and inferior indoor and outdoor air quality. The CCI mission is continuously evolving as our grass-roots efforts meet regulatory and public-led efforts to seek inclusive solutions.
Our focus is on the thousands of immigrant families new to Maine who are unaware of the issues involved in securing a healthy environment. We focus on energy-efficient appliances, heating and cooling systems, cleaning products, cooking and ventilation, recycling, re-using, and re-thinking to be more conscious of waste, trash, and potential harmful emissions.
Our Vision
Community Conservation Initiative seeks to strategically support the immigrant community to become environmental stewards and protect the natural landscape of Greater Portland and beyond.
